The Ambitious Blueprint of Yingxia Rural Modern Agriculture Industrial Park
In Yingxia Rural, located in Kuerle City, Xinjiang, a grand plan was set in motion in 2021 - the creation of a "Modern Facility Agriculture Industrial Park." The primary goal was to integrate agricultural production, leisure picking, and farming experiences, turning it into a new engine for agricultural development in Kuerle.
In April 2021, the construction of the industrial park was officially initiated. The project's overall planned area covers 73.97 acres and includes 23 steel-framed soft greenhouses and an ecological parking lot, with a total investment of a whopping 7.34 million yuan. The project's financing is diversified, incorporating initial financial aid from the central government for poverty alleviation, local government funding, and additional support from the autonomous region. The defining feature of this industrial park is the 23 new-type thermal film structure greenhouses. Constructed with special flexible materials, these greenhouses have a thickness of 10 centimeters, providing outstanding insulation. They are rainproof, fire-resistant, corrosion-resistant, UV-resistant, with a lifespan of over 25 years, revolutionizing the traditional greenhouse construction methods.
Upon the project's completion and acceptance, it attracted investment from social capital. Jiamu Horticultural Technology Development Co., Ltd., located in Tiemenguan, contributed 800,000 yuan to participate in its operation and management. It introduced intelligent water and fertilizer integrated machines, intelligent control systems, as well as improvement measures for landscaping and road hardening within the park. The park's spatial layout adopts a unique "one core and four zones" structure, with the core focusing on the "seven technical elements," and the four zones dedicated to modern agricultural demonstrations, picking experiences, farming culture displays, and Xinjiang's specialty plant exhibitions. This has transformed it into a new type of agricultural industry demonstration zone that combines the primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors of the economy.
The Struggles of a New Farmer: Li Zifan
Li Zifan, a young entrepreneur aged 27, is a passionate new farmer. In 2018, after graduating from university, she made the bold decision to return to her hometown and start her own business. In the initial stages, she explored a new sand-cultivation method, initiating facility agriculture and becoming a representative of the new farming generation. However, due to her lack of scientific planting techniques, she encountered various challenges. Fortunately, the Kuerle City Agricultural Science Research Institute extended its helping hand, teaching her about greenhouse planting techniques and more. Li Zifan also established partnerships with research institutions such as Hebei Agricultural University and Shihezi University, applying the latest research results and cutting-edge technologies to actual production, providing her business with solid technical support.
In 2020, the village of Ka'erbag in Yingxia Rural transformed 90 acres of abandoned greenhouses into a modern facility agriculture industrial park, creating 23 intelligent greenhouses. Li Zifan's sand-cultivation technique was utilized here, allowing her to collaborate with local farmers. Together, they cultivated various fruits and vegetables, such as strawberries, tomatoes, and figs, inside these greenhouses. The introduction of a fully automated water and fertilizer control system, intelligent temperature control system, and irrigation network brought a sense of modernity to the greenhouses, reduced labor intensity, and introduced smart operations and precise management.
Li Zifan has continuously expanded her facility agriculture, breeding potted fruit trees, including apple trees, fig trees, peach trees, and tomato plants. Her business has created job opportunities, contributing to the local economy's growth. Li Zifan represents the emerging force of rural revitalization in Kuerle City, demonstrating the unyielding entrepreneurial spirit of rural youth. The story of Li Zifan and the modern agriculture industrial park of Yingxia Rural bear witness to the new chapter of rural revitalization.
