Atiku Abubakar, former vice president between 1999-2007 polled 1523 votes to win the contest as major challenger to President Muhammadu Buhari whom the party in power, the APC retained as sole candidate
Atiku from North East Adamawa State has been in the race for presidency since he left office with a failed bid in 2014 when Buhari defeated him in the APC presidential ticket race.
He had migrated to the APC from the PDP then and moved again back to the PDP early this year.
